Accusations

Unfair

To the Editor:

I write out of concern for how some of our community seem determined to “do business” — that is gossip and accusations. In this case the leadership of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, particularly the chief and treasurer, are under attack.

Gossip, innuendo, unfounded accusations, and downright lies are circulating in the community. Yet the sources do not come to ask for facts, to seek financial information, or come to join in the work. Unfortunately, some of the sources are within our own company. When citizens volunteer their time to serve the community as tirelessly as the volunteer fire and rescue workers of our county, this is grossly unfair and poisonous.
