“The Virginia Gold Cup is one of the richest timber races on the National Steeplechase Association calendar,” explained NSA communications director Joe Clancy Jr. “The best jumpers in the nation annually travel to Virginia in the spring, and the Great Meadow race often becomes the high point of the year’s national timber championship season.”
So, though it may in some circles be more likely a day of hobnobbing and networking, the Gold Cup is more than anything else a championship day for horses, , horsemen and the competition calendar.
