The headwaters of the river from which Rappahannock takes its name will no longer be an illegal, dangerous dump, if Saturday’s cleanup goes as planned. , Hunt Harris of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center has organized the largest volunteer cleanup in the history of the county for the Foot of Mountain Run in Chester Gap. - Ready for action at 9 a.m. Saturday will be three dump trucks and a front-end loader supplied by the Virginia Department of Transportation, a van from the sheriffs department to shuttle volunteers

Basic Training
Army Pfc. Christopher F. Payne tas graduated from basic military raining at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
During the training, students eceived instruction in drill and cerenonies, weapons, map reading, tacics, military courtesy, military jusice, first aid, and Army history and raditions.
Pfc. Payne is the son of Navy Lt. 3mdr. Francis L. and Geraldine B. 'ayne of Sperryvile.
