Silas Carder
Silas William Carder, 79, of Culpeper, died on Sunday, April 28 at the Culpeper Health Care Center.
He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Rappahannock County to the late Bernard A. Carder and Jessie Mae Carder.
Mr. Carder was past president of the Willie Paul Lewis Class at Culpeper Baptist Church, was a member for 58 years of the Independent Order of the Oddfellows, Phoenix Lodge #59 and was a member of the Norman Ashby Rebekah Lodge #69.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Rumsey Carder.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Shirley Waibel of Culpeper; five brothers, Wallace A. Carder, Melvin A. Carder and Russell H. Carder, all of Culpeper, Cecil E. Carder of King of Prussia, Pa., Harold F. Carder of Sun City Center, Fla. and one sister, Mrs. James R. Carder (Betty) of Culpeper.
He is also survived by two stepgrandchildren, Tommy Dowell and Gary Dowell, five nephews, nine nieces, 24 great-nieces and great
