Michaelmas
celebrated
On Thursday, Sept. 27, students at Hearthstone School celebrated “Michaelmas,’' the festival of Archangel Michael. Different legends of Michael can be found in cultures all over the world. He played an important part in ancient Hebrew culture and Michael legends exist in Persian and Indian cultures. The high school presented the history of Michaelmas, while the lower school reenacted the story of St. George and the Dragon. High school students Nicolas Gargiulo, Morgan Vaughan, Preslee Thomas and Ariel Bridges played an original song in honor of the day.

On Friday, Sept. 21, Hearthstone alumna Vanessa Dunn was honored at a Phi Theta Kappa ceremony at Lord Fairfax Community College. The recognition was awarded for outstanding work.
