Sperryville resident
Gid Brown Clater, 76, of Sperryville died Tuesday, September 25, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born April 11, 1931 in Sperryville, VA to the late George Roxie Clater and Mary Ethel Atkins Clater.
Mr. Clater served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Marie Lill ard Clater, and his brother, Robert S. Clater of Manassas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Roxie Clater, Jr., Jack S. Clater, Isaac M. “Buck” Clater, and one sister, Cleo Clater Dodson.
Pallbearers were Holly Pendleton, Ernest Clater, Wayne Carwile, Freddie Thompson, Chucky Jenkins, and Tony Wayland.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 29, at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment was followed in Sperryville Cemetery.
