Sally Nash describes her October show of new paintings at the Packing Shed Gallery, in this way: “Each of these pieces deals with a moment of arrival at a new inner space: I am silting through attic relics; I am startled post-anesthesia on my way to consciousness; lazily, I float in the warmth of a summer pond. They share a keen awareness of what has been left behind. This combination of arrival and departure gives the work a strong sense of the journey, of process.”
Her creative process is somewhat improvisational: “I apply some waterbased medium to wet paper and wait to see what happens. Sometimes I tip the paper; often the medium moves of its own accord. I really try to pay attention, reluctant to impose
