Guitarist Laurence Juber will return to the Theatre at Washington Virginia to give a solo concert on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. He is one of the world’s foremost acoustic guitarists, and a celebrated practitioner of finger-style guitar playing.
Juber was bom in London and started playing the guitar professionally at the age of thirteen. He quickly became a featured soloist with England’s National Youth Orchestra and while still a student at London University, he played in several of London’s West End musicals, including “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
In 1978, Paul McCartney asked Juber to become the lead guitarist for his band Wings. He recorded and toured with Wings for three years. He won the “Best Rock Instrumental” Grammy award for the track of “Rockestra” from the album “Back to the Egg”. After Wings folded in 1981, Juber moved to California and continued his career as a solo artist and arranger.
