Welch asked why Smith ahd Williams are now talking about their ideas for the sheriff’s office, but had never put those ideas into action during their long tenures in the RCSO.

Williams admitted that answering the question was a bit awkward, but continued anyway. “The sheriff and I have agreed to disagree on a lot of different things," he said. “You have to remember that when you work for the sheriff, you work for the sheriff."

Smith answered that sometimes she chooses not to voice her opinion because it’s not always the best way to operate in an office. “I don’t always agree with what the sheriff and Chris have to say," she said. “But I have to respect what they do."
