stumbled upon a fascination with painting that circled back to early childhood, a time of discovery,” she remembers. “The aspects of painting that reflect movement interested me most: movement of pigment, water, myself. The images, as in my choreography, have references to reality, both inner and outer, without literally representing it.”

Sally Nash’s work has been shown locally at the Middle Street Gallery, Longview Gallery, Artists of Rappahannock County 2006, and Workspace for Choreographers, at the Vine Arts Exhibit in Culpeper, the UVA Cancer Center in Charlottesville, and at Linden Vineyard.

“Arrival/Departure,” Nash’s large show of both color and black & white works in mixed water-based media, runs from Oct. 4 through Oct. 28, with an Artist’s Reception on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2-5 p.m.
