More at the festival
The Power Line Awareness Festival will feature much more than Gilbert’s speech.
The event will also include several other speakers and bands, alternativeenergy presenters, food provided by Rae’s Place and Harmany Highlands, wine from Rappahannock Cellars and tours of Jordan River Farm owner Cory Koral’s solar-powered house.
The entire event will be powered by Richmond-based DTI Solar.
Jordan River Farm is a 328-acre organic farm that already has one set of Dominion’s 500,000-volt power lines crossing it. At dusk, festival-goers will gather under the power lines. Participants can bring their own 3-foot-long fluorescent light bulbs, which will illuminate from the stray energy emitted by the lines.
Festival organizers are charging $5 per person for admission to cover the costs of the event. If any money is left over, it will be donated to the PLA.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers and accepting sponsors for the event.
