The 38-year-old Chester Gap man’s position can be perceived as either a negative or a positive. Of the three candidates, he works most closely with the current Sheriff Larry Sherertz. But he also had to put some distance between himself and the incumbent sheriff to show that he is capable of making some changes in the office.
“The deputy sheriff has to support the sheriff and the goals and the mission he has for the agency, regardless of whether you like it or don’t,” Williams said. “It does not mean I have the same philosophy or goals for the sherifFs office.”
