Thank you John!
The auditorium at the Rappahannock County
High School was packed on Tuesday evening.
“This says so much about this community,” said Kevin Adams of the Gay Street Inn., “that they would come out in these numbers for this event.”
“I haven’t see so many, I believe this could be a record,” echoed Henry Gorfein.
The crowd filled the chairs and lined up across the back as well as down the sides.
They came out to hear the three candidates for sheriff - Lt. Connie Smith, Sgt. J.C. Welch and Maj. Chris Williams.
Those candidates were grilled by Washington resident John Fox Sullivan.
They were also gently treated as well and at one point, Sullivan asked that the parents, spouses and loved ones of the three candidates stand up.
All got a rousing applause.
“You all need to be very proud,” said Sullivan, “we have three fine candidates here.”
An able adlibber, Sullivan mixed tough questions with humorous asides.
Conservations that evening and going into Wednesday morning at the Country Cafe and over on. U.S. 211 at the Rappahannock National Bank have county residents abuzz with who will be elected in November. It promises to be a close contest.
Sullivan is to be commended for his role in making the Rappahannock News sheriff forum the success that it was.
Thank you John and thank you to the residents of Rappahannock who came out, not only to hear, but to support the efforts of these three stellar candidates.
