Van Dort explained that “the sidewalks belong to VDOT. According to Van Dort, it costs $5,000 to build ten feet of sidewalk. The council agreed to approach the board of supervisors and Bob Moore, VDOT district engineer, to see if repairs could be moved up on VDOT’s priority list, due to the hazardous nature of some sidewalks.
