provided a wonderful hot lunch for the girls and their coaches, energizing them for the second half of the marathon.
The next 15 innings used a machine for a pitcher, followed by three innings of teeball with base runners running the bases in a clockwise direction. The girls then played nine innings of conventional fast-pitch, with the varsity’s Lauren Sharp pitching to her team and Kelly Atkins pitching to junior varsity. The final two innings were off of the tee. The 50 innings were completed!
The event was a great success, full of double plays, sliding, home runs, and hysterical laughter. So far, the girls’ pledges for the event total $2,610. As the girls come out and collect on their pledges this week, the teams ask residents to consider throwing in a little bonus to help them reach their goal.
