She was a resourceful, however, and lured the male (bluebird A) out of his territory which his mate (female B) patrolled and guarded as fiercely as her mate. The lone female (C) mated with the male. When his mate was away from her nest for food or bath, the mate-less female sneaked into A and B’s nest box and lai<J two eggs on two different occasions.
