on a host of beautification projects at the Warrenton post office, the Old Jail Museum and elsewhere in town. Annually, the club donates $1,500 in college scholarships to worthy graduates of local high schools.
Last year members of Francis Fauquier helped organize the first Fauquier Christmas Gala to raise funds for a new emergency family shelter in the county. Their donation of hundreds of hours of work and hundreds of dollars for plants and decorating materials not only made the Gala setting beautiful, but also brought more than $2,000 for the Fauquier Family Shelter’s coffers when the decorations were auctioned off at the end of the evening. ,
Such civic involvement came wit the charter for the Francis Fauquier club. From the time Mrs. Wesley Dennis took the gavel to chair the firs meeting 47 years ago to the momen club President Janice Allen banged las month’s meeting to order, the club has been involved in projects ranging from beautification of the American Legmn grounds in Warrenton to landscaping the then-new Fauquier Hospital.
