Water System

Upgrade

As in months past, Roger Cronin’s recommendations for a water system upgrade were on the agenda. Mayor Willis proposed that the council explore the idea of an additional reservoir and find out more details. The council will also meet with the owner of the property where the present reservoir is located to discuss the possibility of adding a second storage tank.

Cronin also recommended installing a $25,000 floater gauge instead of using a pressure gauge. Council member Steve Critzer commented that, “with the $25,000 device, you could keep the reservoir within a foot or two of being full.” The council, however, opted not to spend the money and to continue to rely upon daily inspection of the system.

The council will not know for several more months whether or not the town can obtain a government grant to fund the improvements. Memorial Donation

As a final action, the council approved a donation to the Hampton Foundation in memory of county resident James William “Jim Bill” Fletcher who passed away March 10.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be April 8, at 7:30, in the town hall.
