Holiday: St. Joseph’s Day, the 19th, on which date traditionally many say tomato seeds should be planted indoors to get an early jump on the growing season.

The garden: Beware of “false spring” in early March. Do not be tempted to venture into the garden too early. Wait until the ground has a chance to warm up and dry out. The last killing frost in our area is not expected till on or about April 17.
