take a trip to the grocery store. Produce can be surprisingly beautiful when you’re not hungry.
An antique glass or crystal bowl filled with granny smith green apples adds a much needed splash of color to an empty table or stand. A porcelain or hand-painted pottery bowl is quite cheerful when filled with bright yellow lemons. Fill an old silver bowl with nuts or colorful candy. Lighting is an often overlooked aspect of decorating that is vital to the atmosphere of a space. If one of your rooms remains unused because it is dark and uninviting, rethink your lighting. A colorful porcelain ginger jar lamp can bring artistry to a table.
If your old lamp is sporting a shabby old shade, purchase a fresh white or ivory shade and reconsider its shape.
Rearrange lamps from other rooms that never get used.
On. the other hand, if one of your rooms reminds you of the Spanish Inquisition because the light is blinding, replace those 100 watt bulbs with soft 40 watt pink light bulbs. The color adds warmth and is aesthetically pleasing.
