“When I did my children were terrified. I told them they could draw on my head with watercolors sticks to try to lighten the atmosphere. But then, they didn’t get to. And they actually asked me about it too,” she said laughing.
“I think God puts you in a certain place for a reason. I think he put me here to save my life. The people here helped me. If I had waited, even a year the doctors said, I would have been in trouble.”
Miller had one tumor that was very wide and actually cupped around the others and spread like fingters, she said. “All my doctors told me how lucky I am.”
But Miller credits it to a good friend who made her go to the doctor and to luck. “Anyone who hasn’t had a regular pap smear this year — I’ll drive them! I beg people to go. It’s so, so important to keep a check on your health. Some things are easy to do like the breast self exam. You just have to take the time. So take it — it could save your life.”
