And finally: Regarding the article on the tributes to Mr. Hubert S. Gilkey upon his resignation from the board of supervisors (and as its chairman), I am truly sorry that I did not arrive at the courthouse in time to publicly pay my respects to him (I spoke to him personally), so I want to here and now express to the chairman my appreciation for the courtesies and considerations paid to me in my many appearances before the board, both as a private citizen and in official capacities involving county government. Thanks Hubie and God speed! And to the new chairman, Mr. Charles K. “Pete” Estes, and his vice chairman, Mr. Robert P. Anderson (who is also my district representative), congratulations and I look forward to working with you both.
