Begin your upgrading project by turning off the circuit breaker servicing the old light. Remove the old fixture’s mounting screws to gain access to the two wire nuts connecting the fixture’s wires, color-coded for positive and negative, to the corresponding house wires.
Unscrew the nuts and disengage the positive and negative leads. Remove the screw holding the copper ground wire.
Take off the old fixture. Attach the new light by matching its black wire to the black house lead, white fixture wire to white house lead. Secure each set with a wire nut. Affix the ground wire to a convenient screw. Mount the new fixture.
