Tuesday, Election Day, is a state holiday.
Most government offices are closed while most private offices and business will remain open.
All Rappahannock County government offices are closed all day, as is the Department of Welfare and Social Services in Washington.
The Rappahannock National Bank in Washington and the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Flint Hill are also closed.
Post office branches are open on Election Day, as is the local health department.
All offices and driver testing stations of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles are closed Tuesday. However, many vehicle licensing offices will be open. The DMV suggests calling before visiting the office.
The news and business offices of the Rappahannock News will observe normal business hours Tuesday. The news deadline is set for noon on Tuesday. The deadline for local display and classified advertising is also noon Tuesday. Advertising deadline for the horse and farm directory is noon Monday, as is combo real estate advertising.
