Durrette, a 47-year-old attorney who lives in the Richmond suburbs, was bom in Richmond, grew up in Southampton County, went to school in Lexington, married a girl from Roanoke and lived in Fairfax County while a member of the House of Delegates.
Durrette also cites his background as a businessman, legislator, parttime teacher, private attorney and his military experience as a more well-rounded background than that of his opponent, Democrat Gerald L. Baliles.
