At Germanna Community College, Jeannie Baliles learned firsthand of the diggings which are underway at the Spotswood site. Gerald Baliles praised these efforts and also pointed to the broad range of Historic Gordonsville which is sponsoring the project. Private Efforts

Jerry Baliles praised the efforts of private enterprise in conserving Virginia’s “architectural gems and historic sites.”

In Culpeper he noted the activity which had been generated by the Civil War Reenactments. “The recent ABC television coverage benefits Virginia, tourism and our economy,” he explained. Generous Gifts

“The generous contributions and efforts on behalf of the citizens of Virginia have helped to make our history more alive,” explained Baliles. He noted the generosity of Mrs. Marion duPont Scott and the provisions which will insure that Montpelier will be accessible to the public. This historic Orange County site is another hallmark in preserving what is best of Virginia’s history.
