Like most candidates for the state legislature, Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. has been out and about during the fall campaign.
But unlike many, he doesn’t need to be. The 14-year veteran of the Virginia House of Delegates is unopposed for re-election in the 31st District, which includes the Fauquier precincts of Leeds, Marshall, Remington and Waterloo, as well as Rappahannock, Clarice and portions of CulpeperCounty.
“You’ve got to go out and be accessible,” said the 46-year-old Warren County farmer and businessman, who believes his popularity and lack of an opponent prove that constituents like the job he is doing.
Without worries about the elections, Mr. Guest has time to look on to the 1986 Virginia General Assembly. Though the opening of the Assembly remains more than two months away, the major battles of the year already seem to have formed, Mr. Guest said.
