.Safety first
Today is day for the kids.
Halloween, a time to dress up in costumes, go trick-ortreating and generally ignore the dentist’s best advice, is also a time to be even more careful than usual.
Parents should be careful that their children are dressed properly: that costumes can easily be seen by the passing motorists, will not cause injury to their child by falling over loose-fitting material or being cut by sharp objects, are fire resistant.
Parents should also be aware that not everything children bring home should be eaten. Inspect the bounty. Throw away anything that looks even remotely suspicious.
Also, kids themselves should be careful.
Do not accept rides from strangers, do not approach a darkened house and do not enter a house or apartment of a stranger.
Lastly, history makes it all too clear that vandalism and Halloween seem to go together. They do not. Vandalism is not only expensive to correct, but can sometimes be dangerous.
Halloween is supposed to be a fun time. Let’s keep it that way this year.
