PEPCO readies
for winter,
offers program
The Potomac Edison Company is conducting a program designed to reduce heat loss and decrease heating bills of low-income customers who heat with electricity.
The project, called WRAP, which stands for Weatherization Residential Assistance Program, is available to homeowners and renters who meet state energy assistance guidelines.
The two-year load management experiment will reach 120 homes in Virginia, providing funds for materials to be installed in the homes of residential customers who meet state low-income energy assistance guidelines.
Also, the program includes a free energy analysis, workshops for consumers on weatherization agencies: on ways to conserve energy, provide (free of charge) electric water heater insulation jackets, electrical outlet draft seals, door sweeps and lowflow shower heads.

Additionally, the company is offering an Average Payment Plan to ease the crunch of winter’s high energy bills.
The customer’s 12-month cost of electricity is averaged into 12 equal payments instead of six, bi-monthly payments. ,
The plan is designed to avoid paying larger bills during the peak heating or cooling periods of the year. The customer’s annual electric bills will be averaged into 12 payments based on actual electricity usage.
