The George Washington National Forest has released for public review and comment an additional alternative for directing the management of the Forest over the next 10 years.
The public is encouraged to evaluate and comment on this new alternative that is issued as a supplement to the draft environmental impact statement and draft land management plan released last year. Comments on the new alternative will be accepted through Jan. 30, 1986.
The previously published alternatives created considerable public interest. Many respondents were critical of the earlier proposal because they thought too much emphasis was being placed on timber management at the expense of other Forest uses or resources.
