Paraphrasing the Old Dominion name, Jerry Baliles called for the creation of a New Dominion at appearances across the Seventh District.

“It is essential that the Old Dominion become the New Dominion,” explained Baliles, “it must remain competitive.”

“In this country, education has been the bootstrap by which we have pulled ourselves up,” he stressed. “It is important to the future of agriculture, the future of manufacturing, and the future of high technology."

Tying education to economic growth was a major focus of the Baliles appearance before 300 people at Lake of the Woods in Orange County and a meeting of 400 people held at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper.

“Economic growth is essential for the preservation of Virginia’s small towns,” Baliles explained. “We are going for an economic transformation... education and' transportation are the building blocks for the future.”
