Following two successful campaigns in 1983 and 1984, the Culpeper Memorial Auxiliary expects even more participation in this year’s Lights of Love.
“In 1983, we contributed $>5,100 toward renovations in the hospital emergency and outpatient areas. And last year, we contributed $6,800 for the purchase of emergency communication equipment for homebound individuals,” said CMH Auxiliary President Edith Witherspoon. “This year we hope even more people will know about the Lights of Love and will make gifts in memory of loved ones and friends.”
As well as raising gifts for an important cause, Lights of Love is also an event where the community comes together to begin the holiday season.
The tree lighting ceremony is a spectacular sight as 1,000 lights illuminate a white pine tree growing on the hospital grounds.
The public is cordially invited to attend this year’s lighting ceremony on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The program will include short messages from local dignitaries, hospital representatives, board members and auxiliary members. Festive music and refreshments complete the evening.
All donations to Lights of Love are tax-deductible and may be mailed to the CMH Auxiliary, 1216 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper 22701.
