Remembering

Martin Monroe

To the editor:

Martin Monroe was a bonnie Scot . who lived for a while in Rappahannock. He had been with the renowned Highlander Regiment when it was stationed in Egypt.

I met Martin in the late ‘60s when we had the Lee Street Shop and Martin was commercial agent at the British Embassy.

In Warrenton, Maring began building a business based upon Pimpernel mats. Before he died, the business had grown into that of the internationally renowned Pimpernel mats. .mi/

(The mats are note a vaHabitn+t .. the Lee Street Shop in the Washington Antique Center, Porter and Gay Streets.—Ed.)
