Cenlel deregulates

equipment

Customers leasing equipment from Central Telephone Company of Virginia (Centel) will be allowed to buy that equipment under a new deregulation plan to take effect Jan. 1.

“Customers who are leasing their telephone equipment from Centel may continue to lease that equipment at existing rates if they desire to do so,” said CentePs Virginia Vice President-Operations Dale L. Cross. “They also will continue to have the option to purchase their leased equipment in place or return it to Centel.

The State Corporation Commission is allowing deregulation of the telephone equipment used by Centel customers.

Residential and single-line business customers who wish to purchase the telephone equipment they are now leasing are advised to call Centel’s business office at the number listed in the telephone directory.

And multi-line business customers who wish to purchase their telephone equipment in place should contact the Centel Business Communications (sales) group at the number listed in their telephone directory.

“Customers who are currently leasing equipment from us will have their leasing arrangement continued (at present rates) unless they notify Centel that they wish to purchase or return their equipment,” Cross said.
