When you ask him why he should be elected governor of Virginia, Gerald L. “Jerry” Baliles says the office requires someone with “experience and effectiveness.”
“I think I bring those qualities to this campaign and to the office,” he said, citing 18 years of experience — as a trial lawyer, a state legislator and most recently as state attorney general.
“That kind of experience in government cannot be matched by my opponent, and in this competitive economic era ... it seems to me that experience is an important factor.”
