Robert S. Bruce

Robert Silas Bruce, 78, of 404 West Main St., Front Royal, died on Oct. 24, 1985 in Warren Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bruce was a native of Rappahannock County and the son of the late Silas G. and Annie Taylor Bruce.

He was a member of the Sperryville United Methodist Church, of Masonic Lodge #78 and of Eastern Star Chapter #6, Front Royal. Mr. Bruce was retired from FMC Corp. as a carpenter in the engineering department. He was also a member of the men’s Bible Class of the Front Royal United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife, Clemence Tamkin Bruce, of Front Royal; one son, Robert Washbume Bruce, of Kissimmee, Fla.; one daughter, Elizabeth Taylor Brown, of Sperryville; one sister, Nina B. Brown, of Sperryville; and three grandchildren. Mr. Bruce’s first marriage was to the late Corinth Mae Kidd Bruce.

Memorial services were held on Oct. 27 at Front Royal United Methodist Church. The Rev. Barbara Alloway and the Rev. Jerry Young officiated. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Services were conducted by Front Royal and Washington members of the Men’s Bible Class of the Front Royal United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodges. Memorials may be sent to the Front Royal Methodist Church.
