Terry does not take a stand on the issue of background criminal checks for public school employees.
“I think the issue has too many ramifications and is far too sensitive for any person to take a flat-out position that categorically says that record checks should be made on hiring new school employees,” she says.
“I think there are going to be civil libertarian arguments and your balance of the right of privacy of certain individuals against the right of the school to ensure so far as possible that people with known prospensities is not placed in the classroom.”
