If Mary Sue Terry is elected attorney general, she would be the first woman to hold statewide office in Virginia.
But talk of history-making isn’t the keystone of the Democrat’s campaign.
Terry, 37, a small-town lawyer and banker, stresses three reasons why people should vote for her:
■ She has more experience than her opponent, Republican W.R. “Buster” O’Brien, by virtue of her five years as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney.
■ She has garnered the support of lawyers and policemen, the people who know what her office is all about.
■ She has proven her effectiveness as a delegate in the Virginia General Assembly, introducing and getting passed many more bills than O’Brien.
