The council decided to repeal the existing Planning Commission ordinance, and to draft an ordinance appointing a Planning Commission for the Town of Washington.
Council member Miller suggested that there be a town meeting on the proposed ordinance. “I think that we ought to have a town meeting before we publish it for public hearing and let the people say what they want to say and then after that decide whether we want to do anything, and see what we propose before we go to public hearing,” Miller said.
Water Lines
The council also discussed the town’s problems with its water lines. "You know the problem recently has been with the plastic lines that have just been put in in the last 10 years,” Miller said. "The pipes we have now shouldn't give any problems for 40 years if you believe the manufacturers of the pipe.”
Mayor Kramer and Treasurer Fisher decided that they would meet and find out why there are problems, how to cut off the water only in problem areas instead of for the whole town and what the water company is doing.
