At the end of the year the leading jump jockey receives the Bollinger Cup and an award of $1,500 from Julius Wile Sons & Co. Importers. Mr. Cushman has won the award three times.
Jeff Teter of Unionville, Pa., who has guided Census to all of his wins this season, currently leads the jockeys’ race with 14 wins over jumps and two on the flat from 66 mounts thus far.
As in the trainers’ standings, jockeys are given two points for a jump win and one for a flat win, making Mr. Teter’s score 30 points. Mr. Teter’s lead becomes a lot more remarkable when it is realized that he broke his collarbone in a fall at the Radnor, Pa., meet May 19.
