$20,000 timber race at Arlington Park, 111., the richest steeplechase race in the country, and then won his next start at Fair Hill in Maryland over the Labor Day weekend.
In the battle for leading owner, George Strawbridge’s Augustin Stables currently leads the standings with 20 horses raced, six jump wins and three flat wins for a total of $106,645. If Augustin is the champion owner this year, it will be the 10th time the UnionviUe-based stable has won the award.
The two leading horses from Augustin Stable are Double Reefed, who won the $80,000 A. P. Smith wick Memorial Handicap at Saratoga, and Gateshead, who won a $80,000 overnight handicap at Saratoga and an allowance race at Lexing
