For the spring races, gentlemen should wear Preppy Attire. Blue blazers, straw boaters, loafers (Guccis are OUT), grey flannels or white ducks (depending on the weather and bow far into the spring season we are), an appropriate Oxford shirt and yellow tie (they’re all the rage this year, don’t you know!).

If you’re really in a bind, consult The Offieial Preppy Handbook. It’s a tad outdated and refers to football tailgating, not steeplechasing, but it will do in a crunch.
Ladies are expected to come property dressed in the latest fashions.
Those opting for floppy straw hats should garnish them with top-of-the-line silk flowers.
Real flowers wilt after the first race or the fourth Bloody Mary, whichever occurs first.
