Hunt members found the Belmont Plantation, an IBM property, and approached the owners to see if they could use it as a race course.
“The property was just sitting in the IBM land bank and not being used for anything,” Mr. Rouse said. ‘They were very helpful and cooperative about letting us useit.
“This (Belmont Plantation) is a lovely property to have our races on. It is so good for viewing you can see all of the races from anywhere on the course. We graded and seeded the turf when we took the property over about 10 years ago and the footing is very good now."
