Fall is traditionally the season when championships are decided in the world of steeplechase racing, and this year is not likely to be an exception.
Four year-end steeplechase championships — for owners, trainers, jockeys and horses — are decided by the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association (NSHA), the sanctioning body for the sport in this country. Also at stake is the Eclipse award for the steeplechase horse of the year, selected by the Thoroughbred Racing Association, the National Turf Writers’ Association and The Daily Racing Form.
