Solutions to the problem are still hard to come by. One suggestion from council member Wickens was to deputize part-time personnel who would issue citations to the owners of problem dogs. “We could charge $10 for the first offense, $50 for second and $100 for the third,” Wickens said.
Council decided to study the ordinance, and decide what measures could be taken. “I think that if we can go ahead and do something, even though it may not be 100 percent effective, if it’s 50 percent effective it’s going to help some,” Mayor Kramer said.
In other business, council decided to send a letter to the State Police asking for radar to be set up on Main Street. Council also decided to find out how much a requested septic tank for the Historical Society and Town Hall would cost.
