Other races on the card include a $5,000 maiden hurdle race over 2V* miles, a $6,000 non-winners of two hurdle race over 2V* miles, a three-mile timber race worth $3,000, a $1,000 flat race over a mile and a $4,000 maiden claiming race over two miles.

“Foxfield is one of the best courses in the country,” said Steve Groat, course manager. “It is very well maintained all year round and is not used for anything else.

“This year it is in fantastic shape. Honestly, I have never seen it better. We have had enough rain, it has a nice cushion, not hard, and the going is fantastic.”

The Foxfield course is on Garth Road just outside Charlottesville. To get to the course from the Northern Virginia area take Route 29 to the Charlottesville Bypass (Route 250) and take a right to Barracks Road, the first exit. This road becomes Garth Road after about two and a half miles and the race course is about four miles on the left.

General admission to the races is $5. For more information call (804)293-8169
