Jerry Fishback of Camden, S. C., who took Mr. Cushman’s place as Flatterer’s regular jockey following that rider’s retirement. Returning to racing this year after a five-year retirement, Mr. Fishback has achieved the highest percentage of wins of any jockey thus far with 10 jump wins from 31 mounts for a score of 20 points. Prior to his retirement he won the jockey championship five times.
Several young jockeys from Unionville follow Mr. Fishback in the standings. All are in their twenties and work for different trainers on the steeplechase circuit, many of whom also live in this area of Pennsylvania.
In third place is Bernie Houghton who has nine jump wins and one flat win from 63 starts, giving him 19 points. Ben Guessford is fourth with eight jump wins and two on the flat and a score of 18 points
