What we address here is Serious Tailgating. Rolls Royces. Butlers. Candelabra. Gourmet cuisine. Champagne. Straw boaters in the spring. Tweed cuts in the fall.
This, dear reader, is the other end of the tailgate spectrum. This is where social reputations are made and unmade between sips of Dom Perignon and nibbles of Beluga.
So, now a few tips for the Serious Tailgater
• DON'T gawk at Jackie 0. In Virginia Hunt Country she’s just one of the gang. It is most unchk to stare openmouthed or ask for her autograph. Only a select few are entitled to offer Jackie a place of honor at their tailgates, so bite your tongue if the urge comes over you.
• DO be very selective about which race meets to attend.
The Gold Cup Races in May are a MUST. Hie Piedmont Races, also in the spring, come highly recommended as are the Middleburg and Great Meadow Races in the fall.
