Virginia Fall Races
For the second year the Middleburg Hunt will host a two-day meet at Glenwood Park near Middleburg, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7.
This will be the 30th year for the Middleburg Hunt races. The course is regarded by many jockeys and horsemen as one of the finest in the country in terms of footing. It was designed by the late William duPont who built 33 race courses including those at Delaware Park and Fair Hill, Md.
“From a horse and rider’s viewpoint, and a spectator’s, it is one of the best planned courses in the country," says Mrs. A. C. Randolph, MFH of the Piedmont Hunt and chairman of the Middleburg race committee. “The turns are not too sharp, the going is properly up and down and the jumps are properly placed.”
Twelve races, for $35,000 in purses, will be held over the two-day meet which begins both days at 2 p.m.
