He said PEC had formally re- quested the SWCB to include a chapter on “how to take care of septage” in its plan. “This is a tragedy in every jurisdiction,” Mr. Dennis said. “It’s a regional problem.” , “I would like to know why the facilities are not available to this county and other counties,” Mr. Dennis said. “There are all sorts of questions that ought to be asked. A couple of governors and two Secretaries of Natural Resources have dropped the ball. It’s frustrating, for five years we’ve tried to deal with the state agencies, and they hide their heads under the carpet.”
Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham suggested that Planning District 9 should be directed to come up with a plan.
The supervisors agreed to ask Col. Bingham to bring the issue up at his next meeting with the Planning District.
County Administrator John McCarthy suggested the supervisors could also refer the problem to the county’s Water and Sewer Authority to see if the Sperryville sewage ^treatment plant could handle the [^•county’s septage.
